EASY CONTENT IDEAS

If you own a website, blog, or any other online entity you will need content.  Content can come in many different shapes and forms including text, images, videos and sound and there are challenges associated with coming up ideas for your next piece of content.  I know that I struggle from time to time to come up with something to write about or vlog about, but there are some tips and tricks that I use to come up with great content ideas.

Let me share them with you.

Making Money from Ugly Websites

Written by Marc on April 27th, 2012 with 4 comments

website When it comes to businesses, most people are concerned with the first impression.  That is why in real estate you hear about “curb appeal” and many businesses make a big effort to make their buildings and shops appealing to customers.  The idea here is to entice a passerby to walk in, and that is a big concern in the “real” world.

But when it comes to websites, there seems to be two camps: one that is concerned with providing a beautiful site and a great first impression, and the other where their website is just …

Working at Home With Kids

Written by Marc on February 16th, 2011 with 3 comments

Working at Home With Kids As the work at home industry has grown over the past decade, the number of kids with parents at home has grown.  This has allowed many parents (like myself) to spend more time with their children while enjoying the financial rewards that a business can provide.  Even though it might seem like a good idea, it doesn’t come without its’ challenges.

One of the problems that I have been plagued with is interruptions from my …

Is Hosting With One Hosting Company Smart?

Written by Marc on July 15th, 2009 with no comments

server If you have an online presence (either a business website, or a number of sites) you will have some sort of hosting plan.  Whether you are paying for this or not, you will be hosting your websites with one or more companies.  For most people that have one or two sites chances are that you will have one hosting account with just one company.

But is hosting your websites with just one company smart?

This is a question that I was faced with this week.  You see, I have a number of my sites …

Don’t Just Build Sites: Monetize Them

Written by Marc on May 4th, 2009 with no comments

I have been talking to a number of people lately in some Skype rooms I frequent, and for the most part, most of them have at least a site or two.  Their sites cover many topics, and it is great to see that the Internet can provide an outlet for you to express your passion, no matter what it is.

But at the same time, I hear a lot of grumbling from these same people that they really aren’t making any money online.  I know that this can be a challenge for some people, but in the case of these people that I have been talking to, they are all doing something wrong:  they aren’t monetizing their sites.

Focus on What Counts and Ignore Distractions

Written by Marc on April 26th, 2009 with 1 comment

I guess that the title of this post is maybe a little straight forward and almost hints that you might just not have the common sense to do what you are supposed to do.  I don’t mean to be rude or anything, but this realization just hit me this week:  I am very distracted.

It seems that with my increase in use of Twitter and Skype, I spend an inordinate amount of time using these two applications.  I have been known to interrupt whatever I am doing at the time to see what has just been tweeted, or posted in a Skype room.  Now I know that some of you will say that it is good to keep …

Refresh Your Entrepreneurial Spirit by Taking a Break

Written by Marc on April 4th, 2009 with no comments

relaxingcoffee One of the things that I find as an entrepreneur is that my mind is always working (or scheming) to find new ways to make money.  I will say that I am thankful for that, but at the same time, it can get a little tiring.

In fact, from time to time, I would say that my mind just gets too exhausted to get anything done.  I am sure that you have felt that time to time too, and the effects of an exhausted mind (and spirit) can wreak havoc on your business.

But …

Creating Wealth or Earning It: Entrepreneur vs. Employee

Written by Marc on February 9th, 2009 with no comments

legoblocksThere are a lot of obvious differences between a business owner and an employee.  Some of the more common ones would be a paycheck, making $XX per hour, and being able to put in your time and leave the company you work for out of your mind when you go home.

But when it comes to being a business owner, one of the defining characteristics would be a different point of view on things.  Perhaps one of the most distinguishing differences would be the vocabulary of an entrepreneur compared to an employee.

For example, an …

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Written by Marc on January 19th, 2009 with 1 comment

turtle One of the biggest challenges that new business owners face is to curb their expectations of an instant windfall.  Many of these owners will give up on their business prematurely since they figure that it just won’t work and therefore they quit.

A good example of this phenomenon would be the dot com craze of the late nineties.  It was much like the goldrush of many years ago, and many people looked to the Internet to make a quick buck.  But when the dust cleared, many didn’t make their fortune and turned their backs …

Do or Do Not – There is No Try

Written by Marc on January 3rd, 2009 with 1 comment

Do or Do Not - There is No Try For those of you out there that are familiar with the Star Wars saga, this line might be familiar to you.  It was something that Yoda said to Luke Skywalker while training him to use the force and for me, it was the most important thing said in all of the movies.

Want to know why?

Well, it is a great piece of wisdom when it comes to business.  You will find that those who “do” succeed, …
