Diversification Essential to Succeed Online

Written by Marc on October 24th, 2008 with 1 comment

I know that there is a lot of talk about diversification when it comes to investing in stocks or mutual funds.  But when it comes to business (specifically online business), it seems that this subject is quite often overlooked.

There are many people that will tell you that the way to succeed online is to create a site, optimize it, and market it and the money will come.  Now, I suppose there is a possibility that it could happen that way (take for example Facebook.com as an example), but chances are that it won’t.

Unfortunately, it can sometimes be hit or miss when it comes to the success (and revenue) that a website will generate and that is …

Creating an Online Business with No Budget

Written by Marc on September 1st, 2008 with no comments

One of the biggest hurdles for some people with respect to starting a business is finding the capital to make it happen.  The problem is that most people don’t have much in terms of savings or other money to spare, and the thought of shelling out a lot of money to invest in a new business venture can be a large hurdle.

But thanks to the development of Web 2.0 sites, that is no longer a problem.  Quite a few of these Web 2.0 properties allow someone with no money to earn their first dollars online.  Sure, there is a bit of a time commitment, but beyond that, no money is required.

A good example of these types …

Outsourcing to an On-Demand Workforce

Written by Marc on August 7th, 2008 with 2 comments

One of the biggest things that I learned this year is that you need to outsource what you can so that you can get more work done.  This was very hard for me, as in some respects I am a bit of a perfectionist - I want to make sure that everything is done to my standards.

In that case, you would put your potential employees through a hiring process of sorts, and weed out the good from the bad.  This process can take some time, but what if you need to get something simple done quickly?

Post your job on Amazon Mechanical Turk.

If you haven’t heard of it before, it is a marketplace that …

Gather Your Thoughts Online and Profit

Written by Marc on July 26th, 2008 with no comments

With the popularity of Web 2.0, there is an increase in the number of content sharing sites available on the Internet.  These not only allow you to develop free webpages in any niche, but can also allow you to dominate search engine rankings from many different avenues.

One of the most recent sites about joined is Gather.com.  It is a little different than other content sharing sites such as Squidoo.com and Hubpages.com.  The site more resembles an article directory and design where he would submit a single piece of content such …

OAPD: Big Day for Making Sites

Written by Marc on July 3rd, 2008 with no comments

It has been awhile since I updated my progress of the One Asset Per Day (OAPD) challenge.  I have been very busy with a blog posting service that I started up, but I finally had a moment to breathe and make some sites today.  The sites that I created today are not related to my core market, but were niche markets that I came up with and I felt that they would be easy to succeed in.

The first Squidoo lens I made today was about bad breath causes and remedies.  It is something that we all suffer from, and it was a good opportunity to write about something that I was …

OAPD: Day 23 - Program Update

Written by Marc on April 26th, 2008 with 2 comments

Well, it seems like it has been forever since I have mentioned anything about the One Asset Per Day (OAPD) program.  Originally, I had intended to do an update each day but life has been a little busy.  That sometimes happens, but that doesn’t mean that I have stopped working by any means.

Over the past few weeks I have made some other lenses and hubs on Hubpages.com.  Some examples would be my first movie lens Flight of the Living Dead and one on the Flip Video Camera.

I have been making sites that are not really related to my core business to check out different markets as to whether or not …

A Call to Action for Women Online

Written by Marc on April 7th, 2008 with 11 comments

I was participating in a brainstorming call this morning with a group of women that are members of the Passion Project blog.  During our conversation an interesting thing came up:  there are not a lot of women gurus online.

Honestly, I had never thought of that before.  When I think Internet guru, I can really only think of men such as Frank Kern, Jeff Walker, Andy Jenkins, Rich Schefren off the top of my head.  When it comes to women gurus, unfortunately, I really cannot think of anyone.

What does that mean for you ladies out there?

Opportunity.

I am always big on finding the next big opportunity or idea.  Well, this is not something that I can take …

OAPD: Day 3 - Dragon NaturallySpeaking Review

Written by Marc on April 6th, 2008 with no comments

Dragon NaturallySpeaking Review For Day 3 of the One Asset Per Day (OAPD) challenge, I decided to move away from Squidoo and do something different.  Today, I decided to make a Hub Page.

The topic for the Hub page that I created was a Dragon Naturally Speaking Review.  The reason I chose this topic is that I have been trying out the software for the past two weeks, and I thought it would be something perfect to write about.

It also helped that there are a large number of daily searches for “Dragon Naturally Speaking”, and not …

OAPD: Day 2 - Stress Relief Gifts

Written by Marc on April 4th, 2008 with no comments

stress relief gifts and ideas lens Well, Day 2 came a lot later than I had been expecting.  Unfortunately life has been a little hectic and I have been unable to continue the challenge.  That being said, I am not going to take a break from the challenge anymore (fingers crossed).

Today, I built another Squidoo lens for the One Asset Per Day (OAPD) challenge.  This one is in the health and shopping niche and it is for Stress Relief Gifts and Ideas.

I am trying a layout that I mimicked (similar …

OAPD: Day 1 - Skype Related Lens

Written by Marc on March 26th, 2008 with 4 comments

skype-usb-phone-adapter-review-thumb1 For Day 1 of the One Asset Per Day challenge (OAPD), I decided to go with a Squidoo lens.  I have had more experience making Squidoo lenses than Hub pages, so I knew it would be a quicker process.

The topic of today’s website is Skype USB Phone Adapter Review.  I decided to do a review on something I owned and had experience using.

Also, I picked this product because it is available on both Amazon.com and Ebay.com, in hopes of getting some affiliate commissions if anyone buys the Skype phone adapter as well.

Time wise, it …
