I was participating in a brainstorming call this morning with a group of women that are members of the Passion Project blog. During our conversation an interesting thing came up: there are not a lot of women gurus online.
Honestly, I had never thought of that before. When I think Internet guru, I can really only think of men such as Frank Kern, Jeff Walker, Andy Jenkins, Rich Schefren off the top of my head. When it comes to women gurus, unfortunately, I really cannot think of anyone.
What does that mean for you ladies out there?
Opportunity.
I am always big on finding the next big opportunity or idea. Well, this is not something that I can take advantage of (since I am a man), but it is a great chance for some of you women out there to take up the torch.
Whoever does take opportunity of …

For Day 3 of the One Asset Per Day (OAPD) challenge, I decided to move away from Squidoo and do something different. Today, I decided to make a Hub Page.
The topic for the Hub page that I created was a Dragon Naturally Speaking Review. The reason I chose this topic is that I have been trying out the software for the past two weeks, and I thought it would be something perfect to write about.
It also helped that there are a large number of daily searches for “Dragon Naturally Speaking”, and not a lot of competing results (less than two million).
It is also the largest hub that I have created to date, and the creation process at the site is getting …

Well, Day 2 came a lot later than I had been expecting. Unfortunately life has been a little hectic and I have been unable to continue the challenge. That being said, I am not going to take a break from the challenge anymore (fingers crossed).
Today, I built another Squidoo lens for the One Asset Per Day (OAPD) challenge. This one is in the health and shopping niche and it is for Stress Relief Gifts and Ideas.
I am trying a layout that I mimicked (similar but different) from another lens that I liked. The idea of this lens is to provide useful information and an opportunity for the visitor to buy stress relief gifts for …

For Day 1 of the One Asset Per Day challenge (OAPD), I decided to go with a Squidoo lens. I have had more experience making Squidoo lenses than Hub pages, so I knew it would be a quicker process.
The topic of today’s website is Skype USB Phone Adapter Review. I decided to do a review on something I owned and had experience using.
Also, I picked this product because it is available on both Amazon.com and Ebay.com, in hopes of getting some affiliate commissions if anyone buys the Skype phone adapter as well.
Time wise, it took about an hour and a half to get the images, setup the layout, find a YouTube video, and write all the content.
I will still need to promote the …

Over the past few months, I have seen explosive growth in my business, but I have hit a wall. You see, instead of building my business by creating more websites, I have been just riding the wave of my success. Though that has been great, it is time for me to focus on building my business.
Originally when I quit my day job back in September, my goal was to build web sites and to keep them or sell them based on the income they generated. Sadly, I haven’t sold one site at all.
Also, back in January, I made a comment on a blog, where I stated that I wanted to have 500 websites under my control by the end of 2008. Right now, I am …

For many of you regular readers out there, over the past year, you have read many articles here dealing with real estate investing and business opportunities, with a little focus on online opportunities. I would like to think that I have brought a unique perspective to the table and with the continued traffic the site has enjoyed (even to those old articles).
But things change. Over the past couple of months, my focus has moved from traditional brick and mortar businesses and real estate investing, to online businesses. In fact, I was able to leave my job back in September because my online business has taken off.
So, I will be focusing more on the online business opportunities from now on. I will be discussing what I am doing, marketing methods, and opportunities to profit. My results that I will share will be from my experiences – not from some …

For all of my readers out there who are in business, entrepreneurs, or business owners, what is your biggest asset? No, it is not your business, your real estate portfolio, or the twelve cars that you drive. Rather it is something that is attached to your neck. Can you guess?
Your head. Specifically, your brain.
Now, you might not be able to assign a monetary value to your thoughts, but consider this: where did you get the idea to get into business, or what product or service your business should offer?
Yes, it is your brain again.
Now, I don’t mean to beat a dead horse with this notion, but as entrepreneurs, we turn our thoughts into cash on a daily basis. Whether it be the analysis you did on an apartment block you purchased, keyword research for website marketing, or even just changing the recipe on your good pizza …

I have been spending a good portion of my time lately networking and participating in many discussions about business. I feel that this is a great way for me to learn and see different perspectives that may be able to give me an edge in my business.
There was a particularly stimulating conversation this week in one discussion regarding your competition. Now, the discussion was relating to online businesses, but to be honest, it can apply to traditional brick and mortar businesses.
It basically comes down to this: you can look at your competition from two different perspectives.
Perhaps the most common perspective is this: your competition is your enemy. They take your business away from you, take your customers, and make it harder for you to make money. You are in a constant battle with them, and you have to do whatever you can (legally and ethically of …

I don’t want to start out sounding shallow, but looks are everything when it comes to a first impression. Think of a restaurant – if you see dirty tables, get dirty cutlery, or see hair in your food, will you be coming back?
I sure wouldn’t.
It is the importance of how your business presents yourself that will either make or break your business. You may have the best product, offer the best customer service, but if you make a bad impression, no one will care about your strengths.
This reminds me of a lesson that I was taught at my first job twelve years ago. You see, I was working at a doughnut shop in town and I was going to be the decorator (the guy who puts the icing on the donuts). Now, our prices were three times what the grocery store offered and they were situated across …

With the boom that Saskatoon has been experiencing over the past years, there have been some serious changes in the employees in town. You see, the "good" employees have moved from the entry level jobs (such as fast food, retail sales, etc.) to higher paying jobs. With their glowing resumes and references, they have had no problems getting new jobs.
The result of the good staff moving, has left a void to be filled by the mediocre or poor employees. Taking a look at the help wanted signs down every street, the businesses are in a position where they need bodies to work, so they hire these people that don’t do a good job.
The result of this has been customer frustration with services. Take for example, Burger King in Saskatoon. The last two times that we have gone there, their drive through was shut down due to …
